Methodist International Church Hong Kong (MIC) is looking for an inspiring, energetic and visionary leader to help build on the community events ministry which has been established during the past four years in the newly built Wesleyan House (WH). MIC believes that after the initial period of establishing the community events ministry, it is now time to reach for the next level of where God is leading. This next level will require vision, creativity and a gospel driven passion to serve the community of Hong Kong through Wesleyan House with a particular desire to serve the underprivileged and disadvantaged. The suitable candidate will be able to combine vision, passion and creativity with an acute sense of business acumen that enables income to support the further development of MIC. This post will require excellent interpersonal and managerial skills to facilitate working across multiple MIC partners and external agencies.
Key Job responsibilities
- Engage with the church leadership team to discern vision and set direction for community participation in WH as an intrinsic part of the MIC Church family.
- To assist MIC in fully utilizing the available space in WH to support community engagement and activities, enabling MIC to fully achieve its vision and mission imperative.
- To ensure that community events remain fully within the purview of the church family and not separated or viewed as separate.
- In cooperation and consultation with the MIC Mission and Outreach Committee, be outward focused to identify community needs and explore opportunities to support.
- To lead on strategy and planning for the community events ministry.
- To work closely with the finance and fundraising committees to ensure a balance of income from events to support the ongoing mission of the church and the continuing maintenance and development of WH.
- To manage the Community Events Assistant
- To work closely with the church staff team to ensure smooth cooperation and understanding of the community events ministry alongside other ministry aspects.
- To liaise with the building management team, presently Hong Yip, to oversee maintenance, cleanliness and good management of events space.
- The Community Events Manager will work under the direction of the Senior Pastor.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills, Qualification and Experiences
- Degree holder with minimum 3 to 5 years’ relevant and proven experience.
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills with strong community and development sense.
- Proactive, resourceful and relationship building. Strong organization skills.
- Good command of spoken & written English & Chinese (Cantonese), Putonghua advantage
- Proficiency in Google applications, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Adobe (Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop) advantage
- Flexible work schedule with occasional evenings and weekends
- Immediate availability preferred
